Explore our Assessments

PRB Schools uses data to drive the decisions we make about instruction, curriculum and intervention strategies all with a mind towards maximizing student growth.

In order to gather that data, we use formative and summative assessments including both in house assessments and state/national norm-referenced diagnostic assessments.

Click on any of the assessments to learn more. While there may seem like a lot, we’ve been very intentional to not add extra testing if we can help it. 

Families that wish to opt-out their children from state-mandated testing may do so by completing the form below.

MCAs

Required by the State of Minnesota in accordance with No Child Left Behind (NCLB), the Mn Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs) are a series of tests starting in 3rd grade measuring reading (grades 3-8,10), writing (9), math (3-11) and science (5, 8, 11).

ACCESS ELL

The ACCESS for ELLs are assessments developed by the WIDA consortium and administered to English language learners in order to measure progress toward meeting Minnesota’s standards for English language development.

Fastbridge

FastBridge assessments combine Curriculum-Based Measures (CBM) and Computer-Adaptive Tests (CAT) for reading, math and social-emotional behavior (SEB), and delivers accurate, actionable reports for screening, skill analysis, and targeted supports for our youngest learners.
Gr K & 1

STAR Tests

STAR tests are the district's main diagnostic assessment tool for determining student learning growth over the course of a year and multiple years at PRB. The tests assess reading and math skills three times throughout a school year and provide important supports information for students needing intervention so as not to fall behind
GR 3 & Up

ACT

The ACT is an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities to make admissions decisions. The purpose of the ACT is to measure a high school student's readiness for college and provide colleges with one common data point that can be used to compare all applicants. College admissions officers will review scores alongside your GPA, coures you took, etc. The higher the score, the more doors are open for college attendance and financing options

ASVAB

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a timed, multi-aptitude test, which is given at more than 14,000 schools and Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) nationwide. It is used both for career exploration and to determine likelihood of acceptance in a branch of the US Military. (Test is Optional)
